Blind Freddie might notice that the Discus is a nearly 30 year old,
Standard class single-seater, the Qintus is a 2 year old, Open
Class single-seater and the ASG-32 is a new, 20m Class 2-seater.

- and I didn't understand your comment either.

What John MEANT is anybody's guess but what Aldo SAYS is that for the
Austrians to come 3rd in the Worlds after flying it once can only be
good for the glider's reputation. Amen to that.

Well yes about the Discus - although it still wins regularly in GPs and
Standard class - where it belongs.

But One Eyed Sam might have noticed the Duo before the Discus in the
comment from Aldo.

Now the Duo Discus and ASG32 are technically both in the 20m two seater
FAI class.

Whether they are in the same racing / performance class is open to
speculation. That said, Schempp-Hirth recently introduced the Arcus. Now
that IS in the same class - In all senses of the word...

The closest competitor to the Duo is the DG1000.The Duo Discus is an
advanced trainer, and wonderful XC machine, and it dominated the 20m two
seater class until the manufacturers introduced machines like the Arcus
and now ASG32. Still did very well in the most recent worlds.

As ever with Schempp-Hirth, you should not be fooled by the name. The
constant improvements over the years have left the current Duo Discus XL
with very little in common with the original model, other than the name...
